On Saturday I had the opportunity to be a guest presenter at Iowa State University. The class was an MBA course relating to Entrepreneur - Start up.
Adam Steen with Transitional Capital Management lead off the presentation. He shared how his company helps businesses like ours grow through creative means (other than taking on investment capital) in the early to mid stages by aligning resources. In some what of a one-two punch he lead perfectly into our business and the components they look for in a successful business model.
It was an exciting opportunity to share our story about the journey we've had over the past several years. The challenges that we have faced, the changes we've made and the future growth of the rodeo industry and where we intend to go. The class had excellent questions. I am looking forward to the feedback we'll receive from them.
I would like to extend a sincere Thank you to Dr. Van Auken and his class for allowing us to be their guest and present our business. We look forward to additional opportunities to learn from the resources at Iowa State University.
This evening Nathan will also be presenting to the Iowa State University - Rodeo Team. He will share his knowledge related to Bull Riding, the rodeo industry and his history building a successful bull riding event in Osage, Iowa. The event is now approaching it's 8th year and continues to grow.
Spur' It Up!
Thanks again Adam....look forward to Drake University in the coming weeks.
Matt - my students are so psyched to be able to work with you through my Creativity Course at Drake. It will be a great experience for them... and for you.
Paintmh - Hmmm... I feel your pain, so far in my Creativity for Business class at Drake University, my students have been rocked by guest speakers like an intense police serial killer investigator, a Native American flute/meditation master, and a branding guru. Now they get to hear Matt speak about his business... it's been an awesome semester.

That is just so not fair. Best we get is old, boring, rather jerky men who are so flat that listening to them talk in any way is painful. That, or they are just plain dumb. Or you get a girl who is fresh out of college, working in dairy, but grew up on a poultry farm. Things that make you go, hmmm....
