Moraes, who is 38 and estimates he has broken 20 bones during his bull riding career, said he’s impressed with the men who climb into the octagon. But he also said there’s an important distinction between man-to-man combat and battles that pit man against beast.

“Those guys can say, ‘OK, I’ve had enough.’ They can tap out,” he said. “We cannot. Once the eight seconds start, you can’t stop.”
