Friday evening I had the opportunity to take both my boys (Ethan/6 and Elijah/3) to Walking with Dinosaurs in Des Moines at Wells Fargo Arena. I seriously contemplated taking both of them as I was concerned my youngest might get scared and want to leave within the first 15 seconds (that happened with the monster trucks).
I am so glad that we went. If you have a chance to see this it is well worth a several hundred mile trip to see it live. Truly a once in a lifetime experience for all of us. The production is over the top and draws you in from the moments the lights come down. I think kit started around 7pm and we were walking out about 9:30....so although it was rather expensive ($130.00/tickets, $25/food/snacks and $10 parking) I was seriously considering going back for front rows seats on Sunday....it was that much fun.
Keep in mind I'm not a big dinosuar kind of guy....in fact pretty sure I slept through all the classes I had about them....but this one is so cool as they are life-size, extremely realistic and the sound and laser lights combined with the "come to life" trees, flowers and volcano's were amazing!!! An absolute must see for your family and kids.
PS: Did I mention I've taken the boys to; The Harlem Globe Trotters, Monster Trucks, PBR, World Toughest Rodeo, Barnstormers Football, Stars Hockey and Arenacross at Wells fargo and by far Walking with Dinosaurs was the BEST! (It was also the most expensive)
