The PBR's "major league" tour is the 30-city Built Ford Tough Series presented by Wrangler. The BFTS features the world's top 45 bull riders competing at each event throughout the year. The 45 riders who earn the most money in regular-season PBR competition qualify for the BFTS season finale, the World Finals in Las Vegas. A BFTS rider must win enough money to maintain his ranking among the top 45 bull riders, or he risks being replaced by a rider who earns more money in the PBR's Challenger Tour.

Business Horizons 2008

Applications Now Being Accepted for Business Horizons 2008 Download an application today Business Horizons (BH) is a week-long experience, sponsored by the Iowa Association of Business and Industry Foundation. BH will be held at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa (12 miles south of Des Moines ), July 20-25, 2008. This unique program gives students an opportunity to gain an understanding of economics, the free enterprise system, entrepreneurship, and a wide variety of careers while working in a team environment, developing a product from junk and duct tape (creative types love this part), running a mock business, developing a marketing plan (including a TV infomercial) and presenting that plan to potential investors. It is also about improving leadership skills, personal development, living on a college campus, meeting new friends from across the state and having a BLAST! Students will discover their talents and find out why those talents are essential in today's workplace. They will learn how to work in a team with a lot of diverse personalities. They will discover career options they never knew existed. They may even find, or change, their future direction. Many Business Horizons alumni call it the best week of their summer.

NABA Finals

It's hard to believe a year has flown by so fast. Saturday we headed out to Denver for a quick stop at the Denver WESA Trade Expo Market. As it turned out we took our big truck and had the opportunity to show it to our suppliers including SADDLE BARN and PHOENIX PERFORMANCE. We turned right back around and headed out on Sunday evening in time to reopen on Monday. Definitely excited to expand our travels this year and hit the road to see some of our friends.

Our first official stop with the new truck is at the NABA Finals in Memphis, TN this weekend. We will be closed here in Iowa from Thursday - Sunday, reopening on Monday. Quite certain we'll have a few hick~up's along the way to work out, but that is expected with any new venture.

If you happen to be in the area (Memphis) stop by and see us. For our loyal blog readers we will offer a special 10% Discount and FREE Shipping for any orders placed at the NABA Finals in person.

SPUR IT' UP!

Merry Christmas!

It is hard to believe, however this year is almost over.

I would like to personally thank everyone for their continued support and help in growing our company. By far 2007 has been our best year in the history of the company and we could not have done it without each of you.

As we embark into 2008 I am confident you will see some exciting developments with new formed partnerships, product lines and sponsorships, as well as the roll out of our Retail Outlet in Des Moines and several Mobile Sales Units traveling throughout the United States.

We will be closing our offices during the holidays from late this afternoon through Wednesday the 26th. Also, most of our primary suppliers will do the same and remain closed completing inventory through Jan. 4th.

Spend time with your families and those you love. Time goes by too fast. Make the memories count!!!

Merry Christmas!

WNFR Day 3

Christmas is coming!

Can you believe it is already the 7th of December?

Man I can't.

The PBR Finals are over. The NFR has started. The IFR is right around the corner,,,and most important is Christmas is closing in fast.

I would like to personally thank everyone for their overwhelming support this year. We have truly been blessed with an opportunity of a lifetime building this great company. Thanks for your near cult like support helping us build US RODEO SUPPLY.

So everyone is aware, the majority of items are shipped out from our location in Des Moines via USPS Priority Mail. So for in-stock items we can get it out the same day the order is placed you will have it in 2-3 days. If you need the items for Christmas gifts we do recommend you call (1-877-728-4766) to confirm it is in-stock and it can make it to you without upgrading your shipping to USPS Express.

For most we will have right up until December 19th without doing RUSH Delivery.

We do have some Adult chaps in-stock, however most new orders for Adult chaps from here forward will not make a Christmas delivery....we are trying, however from here on we can not guarantee it. Alot of folks last year after the cut-off printed a picture off our website and placed it in a card so they knew they were getting them shortly after the holiday. Seems to work pretty well ~ considering most guys won't actually be riding on Christmas...but a lot do on New Years.

Well, for now it's back to it. Need to make sure the elves aren't still on break!

Iowa continues to lose Manufacturing Jobs

A national Town Hall meeting, hosted by John Ratzenberger, will be held in Des Moines at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 17, in the Hy-Vee Hall of the Iowa Events Center (730 Third Street, Des Moines).  Iowa bloggers are invited to attend and cover the event.  A brief summary:

2. The meeting will be hosted by TV's John Ratzenberger ('Cheers,' The Travel Channel's ' Made in America').

3. The event will focus on Iowa's continuing loss of manufacturing jobs.  Voters will be encouraged to ask candidates blunt questions about what they'll do to help save U.S. manufacturing.

4. Attendance is free, and is open to the general public.  Bloggers are encouraged to RSVP in order to reserve media seating and prime Internet access.

Tag Elliott Benefit

I wanted to pass along a note I just received from Carolyn Stanworth regarding an upcoming benefit for Tag Elliott. If you or someone you know are interested in getting involved the rodeo family will certainly appreciate it.
My understanding is the injuries were more serious than those of Tuff Hedeman and expect medical fee's in excess of $200K. Tag has committed to his friends and family to wear a mask or helmet once he returns.
God Speed!
See below for more details;
Hi Matt:
We are holding a benefit auction for Tag Elliott, the PRCA, CBR and NIRA bull rider who was severely injured at the Days of 47 Rodeo in Salt Lake City, Utah  (See http://prorodeo.org/ or www.cbrbull.com). The auction will be held August 11, 2007, 7:00 p.m., Marble Park Auction Barn, Tremonton, Utah.   (Take I-84 Exit 40, go 5 miles west of Tremonton, Utah)

Tawny Martin Memorial Barrel Race Sept 1, 2007

A memorial barrel race will be held Sept. 1, 2007 at the CTYRA arena. All proceeds will go to the Tawny Martin Memorial Foundation. This is a 501C3 organization and donations are tax deductible.

Tawny Martin was killed by an under aged drunk driver January 29, 2006. The foundation was set up to honor Tawny's memory and to raise funds for youth projects. The foundation's mission is "Sponsoring projects in support of the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of today's youth." With
your help we will continue to support youth-centric projects like:

All God's Creatures-awarding grants to youth projects which foster a sense of stewardship of all God's creatures. Alochol and Drug Awareness-sponsoring projects which educate youth to the dangers of misuse of alcohol and drugs.

Youth Activity Center-opening a center for kids to hang out, before and after school, to find the ctivities they crave to keep them occupied, out of trouble and reaching for the stars.

Tawny loved horse and riding in general. But she really loved barrel racing, so we are having this race in her honor. We hope that you can attend to run or just hang out with us for a day of barrel racing and fun! We are having a stick horse race for the younger kids, the barrel race for the older ones and
silent/live auctions for the rest of us!

Please consider donating either funds or items for the silent/live auction to this very worthy cause. If you have any questions, please call NINA 254-534-1694, Margie 254-258-4742 or Roy Martin 254-717-7861. Our wesite is: www.tawnymartin.org, click on the barrel race link to find the flyer, entry
and sponsorship forms.

Thank you for your time and consideration, TMMF

Celebrities Riding Bulls

You have got to check this out. Honestly I'm too busy laughing to type. Perhaps after a few days to digest the "reality" of this, I'll make my full comments.

Iowa Speedway Prairie Meadows 250 ARCA RE/MAX Series

Exciting weekend ahead.

Nathan is heading up to Charles City, Iowa for another NABA Bull Riding event on Saturday evening. Be sure to stop by and visit him at our Mobile Unit. If you have yet to pick one up, be sure to get a free catalog and hat sticker.

As for me....I'm sneaking out and joining up with Doug Mitchell and gang for the Prairie Meadows 250 at the Iowa Motor Speedway. Perhaps I can find someone interested in learning more about the sport of rodeo and bull riding. Ya just never know when an opportunity to bring another bull riding event to Iowa. My last trip sure looked like they might just have space for something the scale of a PBR Challenger Series event. Seems like logical passions collide. I'll keep you posted.

Turkey Calling Tips

Some pretty good advise on Turkey calling.

We'll be heading out to the woods this afternoon to do some scouting. Then tomorrow morning is game on!

Although the weather has been rainy with quite a bit of regional flooding, it is shaping up to be an excellent weekend that I am really looking forward to. It's been at least 4 years since all of us (Nathan & Dad and myself) have had the chance to get together and hunt spring turkey.

Hey Cory (& Mark)! Remember what I said....you are more than welcome to join us for 4th season if you are interested. I know Adam is on-board and planning for it.

Can't promise you a bird, but we'll sure try!

Spur' It Up!

Next Catalog Release

Special thanks go out to each of you for helping us continue to grow. This year has proved to be our best year in our history. We appreciate each and every one of you!

We are in the process of planning our next Bull Riding Equipment Catalog. If you know of anyone that you think would benefit from advertising is this next round, please have them contact us very soon to discuss the details. If you are an active member in your bull riding association, please make the association aware that we will consider trade out advertising in an effort to help each other.

If you have pictures that you think are worthy of being included in our next edition, please e-mail us with your USRodeoSupply.com gear in action! We'd love to feature you!!!

Iowa Spring Turkey Hunting

This morning I woke up excited to think exactly how close to my turkey season it really is. In fact Nathan and I along with our Dad will be going what is considered 3rd season this coming weekend and then again Nathan and I plan to go during 4th season, which runs considerably longer. 4th season is generally considered some what harder because the trees are all turning green and the birds are generally all henned up...a bit less excitable.

Well....unfortunately this year I was in need of a new gun. I've yet to come to terms with saying it was stolen...but a guy simply does not lose a gun...especially this one considering it was about $1200. Some how, some way between the store and home in the back of my Jimmy it decided to walk away with a new owner.

So, this morning I headed out in search of a new Turkey gun. Stopped off at the nearby Sportsmens Warehouse in Ankeney, Iowa, however all they had was a double barrel 3.5" Browning that would have cost me somethin like $1800.....of which I was not in the market for.

Nathan called and said he was also heading into Des Moines and wanted to know if I wanted to meet up with him at Scheels Sporting Goods....Yep...on my way.

Found exactly what I was after. Single Shot 12 Gauge, 3.5" with a camo composite stock...ready for Turkey action. Dsc_0190 I lucked out as it would have it, as this one is used and from the looks of it I highly doubt if it had been shot more than once.

We joked while standing there that it must have kicked like a mule and they couldn't stand it anymore so they traded it in.

Headed down to pick up our hunting license, habitat stamp and 3rd and 4th season tags and a box of 3.5" Mag 4 Shot High Velocity shells....total price.....under $200.

You heard me.....less than $200. Amazing!

Had I decided to buy the new Federal Turkey shells....I would have added another $55 for 10 shells...crap, thats almost as much as the gun. No thanks!!!

So, long story real short we headed out to the woods to see what the "Thunder Stick" could do and site it in around 25 yards. Oh' ya...it was all laughs till I shot it!

Let's just say it will get the job done nicely!

Dsc_0187

Not bad....I'll let you know what the bruise looks like tomorrow. I've had plenty of guns...30-06, .308, .243, .225...they don't even come close to what this kicks like. I've seen bulls that don't kick as hard.

If you think I'm kidding, ask Nate. I think it darn near dislocated his shoulder!

Spur It' Up!!!

PS: Now the question is if I have the patience to wait and call in the big Tom! Guess we'll have to wait and see.
