Celebrity Bull Ride Makes Des Moines Register

For those of you who have followed along you'll know we are turning Adam Steen with Transition Capital Management into a Bull riding monster. Rumor has it a rematch is in the making between Steen & Balboa (schedule for retirement this season). Stay tuned for the official announcement pertaining to where, when and the total prize purse.

I was thrilled to find in the Business Section of the Des Moines Register today coverage pertaining to Adam's willingness to take on the challenge of a lifetime - bull riding. (Thanks Lynn for the awesome coverage)

What is the craziest thing you've ever done for a client?

We have been having numerous conversations with business leaders and economic development groups from around the region and State of Iowa.

Bottom line is Rodeo is thriving and helps the rural economy(s).

The question is how do we promote rodeo as an economic development tool for each State

and since I love Iowa...

How do we make Iowa a more Rodeo/Equestrian friendly state?

I would really like to hear your thoughts on current economic development projects.

What little things could have a huge impact for your state?

I really enjoyed this video. Had several flash backs to days gone by and reminded me why I enjoy rodeo so much. Take a look. Great job putting this one together!

Did Adam Steen Really Ride a Bull & Live to Tell?

Fortunately, YES!

At the last minute I was getting nervous for him. The thought of killing off a friend and huge supporter of US Rodeo Supply Company was rather overwhelming as the minutes ticked by.

To see Adam behind the chutes, you would have never known he was out of place. He had guys coming up and asking him,

"So where ya up next"?

"Do you wanna jump in with us to the next show"?

Adam took it in stride and I was becoming more worried that we may have just created a monster that was going to continue to get on for some time to come. I can't imagine a meeting when Nathan and Adam come from separate directions through the door limping. A brief moment to catch up on "so what happened to you"? and then off into the serious biz stuff.

Perhaps deja~voo.

Below is a video I threw together highlighting the run up to Adams official ride on Friday evening in Webster City during a NABA Bull Ride produced by Smith & Company Bulls.

To view the video follow this link

On Saturday we circled the wagons and met out at Adam's family farm pond to enjoy an afternoon of fishing, ice cold brews and a hole lot of BS being slung swapping stories and getting sun burned. As it turned out Adam Steen, Brett Trout, Nathan Owen and myself managed to catch a few fish and check out the new iPhone (I'm jealous - but I refuse the price & AT&T).

Not a bad day at all....(note to self....add more sun screen Mr. Lobster)

We are currently accepting bets on when Adam will ride again....and for how long (seconds). Somehow I doubt many will be banking on him "NOT" riding again.

I see a new support group in the making -

Celebrity Bull Riding Comes to Iowa

I'd like to apologize to everyone for my lack of recent posts. This time of year is a total blur with all the rodeo finals taking place and all the other pieces we have in motion growing the business.

Congratulations to each and every family for their success this year making it into the various Association Finals. It has been extremely exciting to hear the stories and help you in anyway that we can.

So, in keeping with the current trends (Celebrity Bull Riding), we thought it would be appropriate to lend a hand to a good friend who has said "I must ride a bull" since almost the day we met. It was all but set in stone on our return trip from the Denver Markets, however the reality is fast approaching for Adam Steen with Transition Capital Management in Des Moines, Iowa.

Some of you may have read into my sarcasm related to the PBR's Celebrity Bull Riding. I honestly can not recommend that anyone without some serious level of commitment and interest in the sport ever just go jump on a bull and "try it". Perhaps go visit one of Sankey's Extreme Rodeo Schools so they minimally align you with the correct level bull for your skills. Otherwise you might be playing a serious game of Russian roulette and praying the EMT's know how to fix you.

Now Adam on the other hand is athletic by nature and has a desire to do this for more than some quick PR. My fear is we may have just turned him into a bull riding machine, for that I apologize to his family in advance. However, we're not quite there yet. For those of you that don't know Adam, he is a fourth generation baseball pitcher and had a quick run pitching for the Philadelphia Philly's.

Soooooo, baseball, horses and bulls?

Hmmmm.

Definitely not related.... so an adjustment is to say the least.

Tonight we are heading to the practice pen to migrate from riding horses bareback into actually running in a Jr Bull for Round 1.

Friday night in Webster City Iowa is the official first crack at it for Adam.

We'll keep you posted!!!

Spur' It Up!!!

PS: You are all invited to join us after the event for free burgers and hang out with us for the evening!!!

Bucking Bull Statistics - ProBullStats.com

When it comes to embracing technology and applying it in an industry that previous lacked it, Slade at www.ProBullStats.com is the Master related to gathering Bucking Bull statistics.

I noticed his post today discussing the odds facing a bucking bull making it into a PBR BFTS event. I guess depending on how you look at it only a select few will ever have what it takes to make the cut. However, compared with other "odds" I'd say it's a wide open opportunity for those willing to make the investment(s) that it takes to make it big.

Industries formed within Industries. Opportunity within Opportunities.

When your days of competing are over, do you see yourself getting involved in the bucking bull industry?

What obstacles might you expect to face?

What ever you do....
